The Inspiration: A Familiar Cooking Companion

I've been using a cast-iron frying pan for many years. I love frying eggs or bacon in the morning—it’s a simple and satisfying routine. The cast iron pan is easy to use, and I wanted to bring that same experience to the outdoors with a titanium version.

The Challenge: Balancing Weight and Durability

I envisioned an outdoor frying pan with the same familiar size and functionality as my cast-iron pan. However, making a large, flat-bottomed pan from thin titanium presents a challenge. Thin materials tend to warp when exposed to heat, especially over a large surface area. We’ve tackled this issue in our ultra-thin products by adding a concave platform to absorb temperature-induced deformation.

The Solution: A Sturdy Titanium Design

To ensure the bottom stays flat, we made the choice to use thicker titanium, even though it adds a bit of weight. This frying pan weighs 3 ounces and has a capacity of over 600 milliliters. Despite being slightly heavier than our usual ultralight gear, it remains incredibly sturdy thanks to its pure titanium construction.

This pan can be used on its own or paired with a set of tongs to cook food more efficiently over an open flame. It’s designed to handle the heat of the wilderness while offering the convenience of a traditional frying pan.
